Bill O’Reilly was Right! All Terrorists Are Muslims…uh Except for the 94% that Aren’t!…

October 17, 2010

“Rick Sanchez was fired by CNN this month within 24 hours of his sort-of suggesting that Jews run the media.

Compare the response to that episode to the non-reaction of the media today after Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade said, “Not all Muslims are terrorists, (but) all terrorists are Muslim.”

Kilmeade’s statement is both inaccurate and prejudiced, in a way that’s more clear-cut than Sanchez’s semi-coherent rant.

But it’s been instructive to watch how Kilmeade’s comments haven’t created much of a stir at all. Maybe it’s because this sort of thing is expected from Fox. Or maybe it’s because you can say a lot of bad stuff about Muslims with impunity.

Just in case we’re wrong about this, we’ve put in a request with Fox (and reached out to Kilmeade on Twitter) to see if the network has any comment about the appropriateness of his rhetoric.” JUSTIN ELLIOTT ~ Salon.com

CNN recently published an article entitled…

Study:Threat of Muslim-American terrorism in U.S. exaggerated; according to a study released by Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, “the terrorist threat posed by radicalized Muslim-Americans has been exaggerated.”

Yet, Americans continue to live in mortal fear of Islam, an unreasonable trepidation propagated and inflamed by many groups with ulterior motives; to include Conservative Right Wing Media Personalities like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck, popular Bloggers like Pamela Geller of “Atlas Shrugs” and the so-called “Islamophobes” who gain power through fear, by dividing Americans along Social, Economic, Political, and Racial lines.

The Media itself plays a big role in the misinformation of Americans. Although no network deserves all the blame, it should be noted that Fox News (The Most Popular Cable News Network in America) can and should be singled out as the biggest perpetrators of intentional misinformation across the social, economic, political and religious spectrum.

If one were to rely upon Fox News for all their informational needs, their speer of influence alone, would lead a person to believe that all terrorists are Muslims. In Fact, it has even become axiomatic in some circles to chant: “Not all Muslims are terrorists, but nearly all terrorists are Muslims.” Muslims and their “allies” respond feebly, mentioning Waco as the one counter example, unwittingly affirming the belief that “nearly all terrorists are Muslims.”

But perception is not reality.

The data simply does not support such a hasty conclusion.

The following Chart represents a statistical analysis of the Terrorist Attacks on U.S. Soil by Group, From 1980 to 2005, According to FBI Database.

Terrorist Attacks on U.S. Soil by Group, From 1980 to 2005, According to FBI Database

Terrorist Attacks on U.S. Soil by Group, From 1980 to 2005, According to FBI Database

On the FBI’s official website, there exists a chronological list of all terrorist attacks committed on U.S. soil from the year 1980 all the way to 2005. That list can be accessed here.

According to this data, during the span of this report, there were more Jewish acts of terrorism within the United States than Islamic (7% vs 6%). Radicalized Jews committed acts of terrorism in the name of their religion (Information learned from the resulting criminal investigations in each case). These were not terrorists who happened to be Jews; rather, they were extremist Jews who committed acts of terrorism based on their religious passions, just like Al-Qaeda, The Irish Republican Army, Aum Shinrikyo, Kach, The Jewish Defense League, The Tamil Tigers, Hamas, The Taliban, etc…

Yet notice the disparity in media coverage between the groups. It would indeed be very interesting to construct a corresponding pie chart that depicted the level of media coverage of each group. The reason that Muslim apologists and their “allies” cannot recall another non-Islamic act of terrorism other than Waco or Oklahoma City, is due to the fact that the media gives limited (if any) coverage to such events. Remember in the early hours after The Bombing of The Federal Building in Oklahoma City, The Media and Law Enforcement were searching for Muslim Extremist. It was a shock to all Americans to discover that this horrific act was committed by the “Boy Next Door” Tim McVeigh.

In fact, If a terrorist attack does not fit the “Islam is the perennial and existential threat of our times” narrative, it is simply not given much press, which in a circuitous manner reinforces and “proves” the preconceived notion. It is to such an extent that the average American cannot remember any Jewish or Latino terrorist. America’s common knowledge excludes groups like the Jewish Defense League or the Ejercito Popular Boricua Macheteros, and surely what we do not know, does not exist!

Some Americans claim that Islam is intrinsically a terrorist religion and/or cult. The proof? Well, just about every terrorist attack is Islamic, they retort. Respectfully, that’s not quite true. More like six percent or all terrorist attacks (successful or not) have Islamic roots or involve perpetrators of the Islamic Faith.

Presented with the evidence, one ought now to conclude that nearly most acts of terrorism in the United States are committed by Latinos and Homegrown Extremists. A fact that would be difficult to say in today political climate, as it would be political and social suicide to say such a thing. Most Americans would shut down such talk as bigoted; yet, similar statements continue to be said of Islam, without any repercussions.

Islamaphobia is in full swing in America and some European countries. Rather than learn about a culture and/or religion, most have found it much easier to hate or even misrepresent the truth. Can you imagine the reaction if someone were to actually say, based upon our own Law Enforcement sources and Research in the United States of America, that Latinos should be profiled for suspicion of terrorism, because after all they are the ones who commit the most terrorism in the country? The Gut reaction you feel while reading that sentence, is likely what other Americans might think and feel. As American’s we would never think of profiling our Hispanic brethren, despite what any research or report indicates.

The moral of the story is that Americans ought to calm down when it comes to Islamic terrorism. The Right Wing Media, and those with ulterior motives, seem to always live in mortal fear–or rather, they try to make you feel that way. In fact, Pamela Geller (the queen of internet Islamophobia) literally said her mission was to “scare the bejeezus outta ya.”

Don’t be fooled!

You don’t live in constant fear of radicalized Latinos (unless you’re Lou Dobbs), even though they commit seven times more acts of terrorism than Muslims and Jews in America. In the words of Cenk Uygur: you’re at a ten when you need to be at a four. Nobody is saying that Islamic terrorism is not a major concern, it is, but it’s grossly exaggerated.
Let Us not overlook the real terrorist, while chasing the ghost of one.

Ironically, A friend of mine just back from the Gulf War told me that The Iraqi’s had a saying they conveyed to soldiers when they were searching for insurgents and “Weapons of Mass Destruction”. They would say, “Ali Baba is not here!”. Think about that for a moment.

Good retort Richard. Not sure of your math background, but having majored in math and taken my fare share of statistics in various fields of study, I can tell you that you can make the stats say anything you want by qualifying your data, sample domain, etc. First, I will not quibble with the FBI report from 1980 – 2005. While I’m no expert and not aware of all groups of Terrorists, I am aware of the IRA and other terrorist groups. I would say that the drug wars in Mexico and in LA would probably qualify as terrorism. If I were gathering stats for this analysis, I would be looking at a period of time encompassing say 2000 to 2010, not 1980 to 2005. I would also not just look for evidence of terrorism on the US soil. I would look at world-wide terrorism. Another problem we run into here is that one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter so it is a matter of perspective and opinion. As a layperson, however, I would think that one of the goals of terrorism would be to inflict terror and not just to fight an invading army to protect your self or family for example. You may be absolutely correct in your analysis. I’m not going to take the time here but I have additional concerns about Waco, the Oklahoma bombing and the Ft Hood massacre. Much information on the Oklahoma bombing & Waco in my opinion has been hidden from public view. I saw with my own eyes on a live news feed an FBI special agent state that she had evidence that linked McVeigh to Muslims in Indonesia. She complained that the FBI wasn’t interested in her evidence. I’m not saying that McVeigh was a Muslim or that Muslims had anything to do with Oklahoma but I would appreciate the respect of my government giving me the facts. This woman has been silenced and never heard from again. Maybe I’m being bamboozled by the news media but from 2000 to present time, it seems that there are more Muslim terrorist than most other groups. Thanks for the details info. -db

Just a quick note. For this article, I could only use the data which was available and unclassified, which was the range 1980 through 2005. All other data has not been released officially, although it can be found on other sites. But I cannot verify it’s trustworthiness. There is however more data from Interpol and Euro-pol which extrapolates into 96% of all Terrorism in Europe is committed by Non-Muslims. I will say this in the interest of History, Politics makes for strange bedfellows. For Example, did you know that The Nation of Islam and The imperial Knight’s of The Klu Klux Klan were actually working together before during and after the civil rights era. They wanted to create 2 separate Nations 1 White and 1 Black. They had maps drawn up and everything. (Source: Malcolm X:The FBI Files, The Autobiography of Malcolm X by Aklex Haley, and The Black Muslims in America by C. Eric Lincoln) So when you say Tim McVeigh, (a racist and terrorist) had dealings with those outside his race, in planning terrorist activities, I am hardly surprised given what I have read about in the past. For now I have to keep this brief as I have Computer Programming Homework and Quiz. TTYL Dave.

No, I was not aware of any nexus between the KKK and the NoI. Were the terrorist stats based on per incident or on number of lives lost, injured, buildings blown up, heads cut off, FGM or what exactly was the criteria for calling something terrorism? There are many interesting and sometimes important ideas, people and events that history has accidentally or on purpose forgotten. One is the Lost Christianities which provides an interesting look at the battles for what we now call scripture. See at

    http://www.amazon.com/Lost-Christianities-Battles-Scripture-Faiths/dp/0195141830

Very interesting read if you have the time and interest. To the victors go the right to re-write history and/or scripture in their own image.

There are many more examples; the Welsh for example…good luck on your Quiz.
